P. DUROSS - Circa 1850-1855 Philadelphia Slug Plate Squat - 4 Lines Fat Boy Variant From my collection that I've been paring down, here is a super chunky and earlier Duross. It measures just over 3" wide. This is the variant that has 4 lines of embossing in the slug plate. It has an applied double taper top, and nice frosted iron pontil on a kickup base. Embossed: P. DUROSS / 181 / CATHERINE ST / PHILADA Height: 7 1/2" Condition: structurally perfect with no chips, bruises or cracks. Never tumble cleaned, and so it has some modest stain and overall ground wear that would polish nicely if desired. I prefer it in this natural glowy state. Reference Number: SM35 Price: $290 |
