"A "Charleston Eagle" in a very deep olive color. It has a bold strike and nice glass character.

Circa 1846-1852 Pontiled Southern Soda - Eagle & Shield - Superior Soda Water
| Embossed |
(embossed eagle and shield) / (vertical) SUPERIOR / SODA WATER |
| Color |
very deep black glass - olive/black green |
| Height |
7 1/8" |
| Top |
applied tapered blob |
| Base |
incredible deep balled kickup with full iron residue. The edge of the pontil depression is a bit jagged due to the ball pushed in so much. Crude!. |
Structural Condition |
displays very nicely because of the embossing (stronger than most) and the crude glass character. Likely never in the ground. But the top and a triangle of the neck were reattached (see just about the ref # sticker). Looks very professional and you need a bright light to follow the reattachment line. |
| Surface Condition |
Excellent - doesn't show signs of ever being in the ground. Very little wear. Hard to tell if there is any internal stain due to the deep color. |
