Calabash GIV-42 Clasped Hands UNION / Eagle A.R.S. - OP

This is a splendid example with a crisp strike and chunky tubular pontil, from A. R. Samuels, Philadelphia, circa 1845-1850. The tapered top is applied.

Embossed: (string of stars over a large shield with clasped hands over a square and compass) / UNION (in oval) // (right facing Eagle holding banner in beak) / A. R. S.

Height: 9"
Color: aqua

Condition: attic condition - perfect structurally (no dings, chips or cracks), perfectly clean except some dust inside near the bottom to rinse out. Trace base wear. A great example with nice definition and crudity.
