Circa 1850 Pontiled Blue TWITCHELL Superior Mineral Water - Philadelphia

Although Twitchell is probably the most common Philly soda and mineral water from the 1855-1870 period, when have you ever seen a blue pontiled one? This is the earlier "no T" style with a fatter than usual body. It has the funky hat style applied top. This bottle was dug by a friend in early 2022.

Embossed: TWITCHELL / PHILADA // SUPERIOR / T (large filled block letter) / MINERAL WATER

Height: 7 5/8"
Color: cobalt blue

Condition: near perfect structurally - no chips, dings, or cracks. The only very minor issue is a few faint crazing swiggle lines in the lip, mentioned for accuracy. They are from the cooling process in manufacturing. This is an uncleaned bottle that has some patchy haze, spots of dirt, and spotty wear. Some of the specks in the pics are interior dirt spots. It would tumble polish nicely if desired but I like the natural state as is. The pontil has a frosted ring but no residue.
