This is an early circa 1840's chunky squat with an improved pontiled bottom and an applied old style double taper top. This is a recently dug bottle from an early wood barrel privy in Philadelphia.
Embossed: (on shoulder) PATENT // (on base) RICKETT'S GLASS WORKS BRISTOL
Height: 7 3/4"
Color: black glass - deep olive green
Condition: perfect structurally with no chips, cracks or dings. Both the shoulder and base embossing are very light and hard to read, which is why this is priced down. This is a fresh dug bottle (July 2022) that was only rinsed out. So it has patchy overall stain, privy flake film, and some wear that could be polish cleaned. But the character is really nice - crude and reeks oldness.
