Circa 1850 P. ERTEL Philadelphia Pontiled Slug Plate Squat
The P. Ertel Brown Stout is a tough bottle to find, but this is the even more scarce "Not to be Sold" variant. Dug in the summer of 2019 from a Philadelphia privy. Rectangular slug plate, crude applied double collar top, nice ring of black iron on the pontil scar. Embossed: P. ERTEL / THIS BOTTLE / IS NEVER SOLD // DYOTTVILLE GLASS WORKS / PHLADA Height: 7 3/8" Color: deep grass green Condition: near perfect structurally with only a 3/8" cork pry flash, no associated chips (see pic). Otherwise, just spotty light wear and light surface scratchiness. Pretty clean for only being rinsed out. Natural glowy patina. Reference Number: Y37 Price: $167 |
