Dr. Townsend's Sarsaparilla

Circa 1845-1855 Pontiled Dr. Townsend's Sarsaparilla, Albany, NY

This is an earlier, olive-amber example of this classic Sarsaparilla bottle. The corners are beveled and the top is an applied short taper. The base is iron pontiled. It has very heavy hammering and whittle in the glass, great character. There is also a string of hairs or something in the glass, from manufacturing (but not a potstone).

Embossed: DR TOWNSEND'S // SARSAPARILLA // ALBANY / N. Y.

Height: 9 5/8"
Color: deep amber-olive

Condition: never tumble polished and has natural patina, and has some spotty light wear, plus very slight haze in spots. It's perfect structurally, with no chips, dings or cracks. The embossing is a tad light as is common on these bottles, but no issues at all.

Reference Number:  WC4
