Civil War Era Colored Medicine - L. Q. C. Wishart's Pine Tree Tar Cordial
This is a circa 1865 classic Philly medicine, fresh dug and marked down for a base chip (see below). It has a crude applied taper top. Embossed: L. Q. C. WISHART'S // PINE TREE / TAR CORDIAL / PHILA // PATENT (pic of large pine tree, early variant) / 1859 Height: 8 1/4" Color: deep forest green Condition: a dug bottle with a terrific embossing strike, very prominent, and a lovely patina. It has patchy stain that could be cleaned. Only real issue is a shallow 1" flake off the heel on one corner, and some roughness that goes up one of the beveled corners about an inch. See pics.
