Pig Nose Case Gin

Circa 1855-1860 Black Glass Case Gin - Crude Pig Nose Snout Top

A pint-sized Civil War period case gin with a very crude applied top that is off center and saggy. This really should be pontiled but just missed or is eroded. There are some interesting stretch lines and waviness in the glass. Slightly concave side panels - looks very early. Never tumble cleaned, natural patina.

Unembossed
Color black glass
Height 8 5/8"
Top crudely applied and mishapened wide ring (pig snout)
Base smooth based (or possibly an eroded pontil)

Structural Condition

perfect with no chips, dings, hairlines, etc
Surface Condition

Excellent - It has some dullness and inside haze patches, plus light wear on sides and usual base wear. It has a lovely "old glow."
