Circa 1850 Open Pontiled Hampton's V. Tincture - Mortimer & Mowbray Balto.

This is a classic Baltimore medicine that comes in diverse colors. This is an 1850's example with an open pontil bottom and an incredibly crude applied top. This is a repaired example (see below).

Embossed: HAMPTON'S / V. TINCTURE / MORTIMER / & MOWBRAY / BALTO

Height:  6 5/8"

Color: deep amethyst puce

Condition: this bottle is badly cracked and was missing a large piece on the left side that spanned from the base to below the shoulder. The repair appears to be a clear insert that was painted with matching colors, and shows paint streaks. The top has some annealing roughness, not chips from use. The crudity of this bottle is incredible, and is displays decent on the shelf. Priced accordingly - a character piece for sure.

Reference Number:  GW152

Price: $110
